You have before you what the French call une vraie performance de ma part — a real performance. You may be disappointed by the paucity of pictures, but you are looking at the best I could do in my dealings with the meteorological conditions. Rain, rain, rain.
The woman on top, a head-to-toe fashion page, skittered amid the drops while urging me to snap fast. Very kind on her part.
Next week’s forecast promises sunshine.
You will notice our friend from last week in the second picture (this is one of the photos I took then). I saw her yesterday. Unfortunately she was wearing the same dress. It’s Dior, and divine as you can see. She also owns it in beige and black.
My reason for including her again is two-fold, she is absolutely charming and secondly she is living proof that when a French woman finds a perfect dress she wears it and wears it and if she can, she buys more than one. Forget about budgets for a moment and remember the rule about investments: Spend the most you can on the best you can and wear it over and over. The greatest compliment from one French woman to another is “I love you in that dress” — no matter how many times she has seen it.
The first four pictures are in Paris (if you care, the fourth woman is wearing Burberry), the last three are out in the country.
