While in town snapping my photos the other day, the man in the red scarf said to me, “Why don’t you take my picture?”
So I did.
I’ve been thinking about doing a complete on-the-street with men, but haven’t had the nerve to spiel my spiel to (or is it for?) les hommes. I’ll see if I can work up a short, snappy song and dance routine that won’t be too embarrassing and see how it plays out. (Don’t hold your breath.)
Babette, top picture of the women, didn’t want me to take her picture this week because she was dressed for unpacking scores of boxes filled with her spring purchases. She owns one of the best boutiques I’ve seen anyplace, ever. That beige, 20s with a twist, sparkly number hanging next to her — size 36 btw — is one of her favorite finds for the new season.
1.) Gray flannel trousers.
2.) A stretch (heaven only knows what material) T-shirt with small black and charcoal stripes. You may have forgotten, but I consider T-shirts a category in my Top 20 wardrobe, therefore all of them count as one item.
3.) My charcoal gray cashmere cardigan.
4.) A long, 11-inch wide black and gray cashmere scarf. One side is the same color gray as my sweater, the other side black. When it’s tied in the classic looped style I get a crisp mix of the two colors and it repeats the T-shirt.
5.) My new moccasins, which I’m so pleased you like. They are from Pare Gabia.
6.) Simple, silver creoles. I prefer silver with gray for a dressed down kind of look.
Ed. Note: I can see you were all too polite to tell me how happy you were that my prototype bag never made it into production. Let’s say it looks better “in person.”
