This lovely fragrance was given to me by its creator, Francis Kurkdjian, after I interviewed him. Andrea spritzed it on a few times and fell in love. What would you do? I gave it to her.
When Andrea, my daughter, was home two weeks ago we did lots of shopping. Actually we did lots and lots and lots of shopping. Considering how she passed much of her time organizing my life — she has a calling — I figured the least I could do was shop, shop, shop with her (as if that were a burden. . .).
Truth be told, I once considered shopping an important avocation. For several years now however, I take pleasure in it only occasionally and absolutely hate trudging through huge department stores. I walk through the doors and I have one desire, turn around and walk back out the doors.

While we were plotting our expeditions we were in deep conversation about the logical logistics and the most efficient use of our limited time — when (!) suddenly (!) we each looked down at the other’s bare feet and exclaimed: “Oh, I love your nail polish!” I went for my bottle, Essie Peach Daiquiri; she went for hers, Essie e-nuf is e-nuf. We exchanged on the spot. I have hers; she has mine. One bought in the States, the other in France.
With Drea it’s different. She makes shopping fun. Since she is also tall and slender, she makes shopping easy — that will be the third installment: clothes and accessories.
Last week I told you what she packed in the cooking and entertaining departments. This week I shall share with you what went into her amazingly well arranged (quelle surprise!) suitcase in theBeauté et Maintenance categories.
Vitally important deep, deep masque to give hair a silky shine.
A quick henna conditioner. Drea says it’s “the best.”
One of my new favorites. The mere idea of a product that says “3 in 1” and then delivers cannot be ignored.
It has the slightest sparkle without being ridiculous, it hydrates, gives a subtle hint of color, costs nothing and we both love it.
French girls (and women) are addicted to these inexpensive colored lip balmes.
Classic Petit Marseilliais soaps, one with almond oil, the other argan oil.
You know me well, I give credit where credit is deserved thus I can tell you I deserve some in this area where, in all modesty I must admit, I excel.
Finally, Drea and I had to have a heart-to-heart conversation about hydrating. I was obliged to force a little tough love on her.
She admitted that she didn’t always use night cream while assuring me she had found a day lotion that pleased her and contained the daily recommended dose of SPF stuff.
I remained calm, listened. She explained that she realized hydrating was necessary when the weather was dry and cold, but thought in the summer it was not a priority.
Long story short, I disabused her of that notion and threw in a jar of Eucerin Hyaluron Filler Nuit. She swore she would never go to bed without it.
