Ohhhh, do I love this dress. It’s probably not my style or made for me, but I would liketo see it on someone . From Sinequaqnone.

As of 8 a.m. this morning (I am unaware of any boutiques or department stores that open before 10, but whatever. . .) the summer sales have officially begun in France.
You may recall that these markdowns are governed by a strict law, supposedly, to avoid any jumping of the gun, unfair edge sort of competition. Most boutiques get around this easily by sending out mail — either the real kind or e-mail — to special customers two weeks in advance. Officially though, the sales last weeks. The last day is Tuesday, July 30. I thought I would be very specific in case you have a trip planned.
Recently French Elle offered a 100 item “what we should be grabbing up from the racks right-this-minute” shopping guide. I’ve done my virtual sorting for us. As you can see, true to my nature, my choices are rather classic.
I doubt I will find what I’m looking for at les soldes. My latest challenge is to pull together a “uniform” for my trip to the States in September and for any touring I might be doing for the book in October. I shall start in my closet and work out from there. I’ll be talking more about my ideas, and asking for yours, as I move forward.
Just imagine what these tropical forest escarpins from San Marina would add to any wardrobe — even an all black one. . .
This bustier with its sweet peplum is a little bijou I think. Now, don’t panic. . . think cardigan, jacket, shawl. There you go. Bustier “Victoria” is from Rainbow People.
A not so classic marinière from MiH Jeans.
Extremely flattering trousers from Gerard Darel.
A classic really, a long filmy cotton skirt offering leg exposing options with the trail of buttons marching down the front. From Ba&Sh.
Pencil skirt from Zara — think t-shirt or classic shirt belted or the bustier above.
Lace skirt from Malene Birger. Again, think classic white shirt or the white bustier above.
Why not? Cuff by Anne Thomas sold in the Elle boutique.
A toile de Jouy pochette. How très, très French n’est-ce pas?
What do you think?
