|This is the real cover, on the real book (!)|
When a dream becomes reality. . .
The idea was in my head for a very, very long time. Then came the blog. And finally the idea of a book exploring what makes les femmes d’un certain age fascinating, seemed interesting to Lauren Galit who agreed to become my agent.
Lauren then explained everything that went into writing a proposal and guided me along the way. After almost a year in preparation — re-writes, edits, questions answered, clarifications expanded — the proposal was sent out. You know the dénouement. Rizzoli said, “Yes.”
Euphoria set in and for another year I wrote and wrote and wrote and then worked and worked and worked with my brilliant editor Kathleen Jayes.
Still, and many of you know this regarding other life experiences, the whole process seemed wonderful and yet somehow unreal — that is, until I held the book in my hand. It just arrived and I can’t stop looking at it. I expected the jacket to be matte, although I don’t know why, it is not. It is white and glossy and fresh looking. The book measures approximately 8 by 5 inches and is a lovely “buffed” red with Forever Chic scrolled across the hard cover in white.
The books are now on a slow boat from China. Never, in my wildest imagination did I think I would be using that expression — particularly not literally.
Again, and as I constantly tell you, thank you, thank you, thank you. Without you this book never would have existed. Please believe it.
