|Barbie K. Lagerfeld made her fashion debut on September 29. She was then cloned 900 times (as in limited edition). If you wish to add her to your family, you can adopt her for $200.|
Have you seen her yet?
Do you care? Do you have $200 to spend on her?
I wonder from time to time how did the Karl Lagerfeld I knew back in the day become the egomaniacal symbol of all that is crazy and excessive in the fashion business.
Then I think, “no, once again he’s the one who ‘gets it’, the joke is on everyone else.” His cat writes a book (ahem) for Rizzoli/Flammarion (my publisher!) and Karl takes the pictures. He’s done it again. The man is brilliant.
Surely the tome will become the coffee table gift book of 2014, the perfect offering for that oh, so challenging recipient, the woman, or man I suppose, who has everything.
If you’re interested in what the blurb chez Rizzoli has to say about the book which was actually written by — or should I say translated from whatever language Choupette speaks into English — Patrick Mauries and Jean-Christophe Napies with contributions from others, please click here.
It’s quite amazing really. Like him or not, the man is clever indeed and he is still and ever hilariously funny.
As my old boss, Kurt Leudke, always said: “If they’re talking about you, you’re interesting.”
