Marsala, the 2015 color of the year.
For those of you who, like moi meme, weren’t paying attention to the exceedingly important announcement of the color of the year from Pantone, I thought I would pass it along and we can all savour the essence of its winey richness. The color is Marsala, a Sicilian wine which I have never tasted, not that that has anything to do with anything.
(Also I hate sweet wines and that includes Sauternes which one is supposed to like because they are chic and the best-of-the-best hallucinatingly expensive — and yes, I know, “hallucinatingly” is not a word, but it suits my purpose here.)
It’s fun to see, year-to-year, the colors that drive products for the home and beauty and fashion collections. I think the Marsala is rather calm and chic and I am not a huge fan of wine hues.
The Pantone people describe the hue as “a naturally robust and earthy wine red.” Noting that it’s a full-bodied (don’t you love the way wine language is used in the marketing?) color that is
“classy and enriching. . .much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name.”
I always thought it wasn’t “classy” to say “classy”. . .
Marsala from MAC.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute said, the “. . .red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.”
The way I look at the news is that all of us who have anything wine-ish coloured in our wardrobes, we’re well covered for a major 2015 trend.
Since I have just learned how to create outfit templates, all part of the preparation for my new and improved blog, I think I’ll see what I can do with Marsala — in small doses.
Because You Asked
This huge bottle lasts almost one year and rings in at 12 Euros.
If it were legal, I might consider going into the drug trade. You know, soft drugs as in those related to beauty which, admittedly can become addictive once we’ve found our bliss. That way I could send you drugs through the post.
Again, this lasts for months and months and is a mere 11 Euros.
You asked me about the prices of my favorite products. I’ll be going into Paris on Thursday so I’ll check on my Eucerin favorites. For the moment I checked in with Christine (my pharmacist) for my 0.05 Retin-A; Bioderma ABC Derm H20 Soulution Micellaire and Vichy 3-in-1.
My prescription tube of Retin-A, which is enough for one year, is priced at 14 Euros.
See beneath pictures. The Bioderma and the Vichy may be slightly less expensive at Monoprix.
From Eric Bompard. I could see this for Ella Madeleine as opposed to me, but even if it were in her size for the three to six months she could wear it I am not inclined to buy cashmere for a toddler.
Sort of charming don’t you think?
Not really my thing, but I thought you might like to see another spring trend even if we don’t indulge.
Or, maybe you like the cloud motif.
