Tempting aren’t they? Been there; done that; moved on.
Working from home is another one of those vestment challenges. It’s ever so much easier to dress for an office or a professional appointment because we know what is appropriate and what makes us look our best.
Then again sloppy is an incredibly facile option, but not necessarily a healthy option.
Working from home is an entirely personal matter and comes down to two vital questions:
- Who cares? No one but the dog will see me.
- Should I make an effort just for me? Maybe I’ll work better if I look better.
I’ll be honest with you, I have done both. My favorite number one category is, pajama bottoms (or sometimes sweats), t-shirt, cardigan, ballerinas and a combo of serum and cream on my face. Probably a lip balm. Always perfume. Ponytail.
Blue, blue, blues. . . I love them above all.
Then I decided that even if only the dog sees me, I have a couple of closets full of clothes that I could be wearing to make myself look and feel better. For years now, that’s what I’ve been doing. Curiously I think I work better when dressed properly. Maybe it’s a placebo, but who cares?
This is another area in which I feel comfortable, but you’ll notice: the pants are black, as is the cardigan, i.e. one long line.
As you’re beginning to understand, my taste always veers toward matchy-matchy, I can’t really do color in a big way, I get twitchy. These templates are not exactly my clothes, but they are very close to what I own.
