Ever faithful to my black or navy vertical uniform foundation, though the components may vary somewhat, I thought it would be a pleasant departure to top off everything with kimonos.
They are, as you no doubt know, very of the moment. They tend to be a relatively inexpensive way to entirely change the esprit of simple classics. They’re cool and they’re cool in the summer if you see what I mean. They are easy, breezy. They could be belted, but I don’t see the point. That would change the feeling though and why not if you’re so inclined?
A little side benefit: Short sleeves, sleeveless, tank or camisole tops give so many options while the kimono gracefully covers the arms. Cool and cool again.
I have a couple of kimono jackets which I think I will retrieve from my closet. They came from one of my absolute favorite stores in Paris, Companie Française de l’Orient et de la Chine, where I’ve also found many silk or satin tunics and wide-leg, elastic waist crepe as well as linen trousers.
I highly recommend you visit the store. It’s a magical world of unusual and highly desirable objects for the home, clothes and accessories.
