Without doubt, many of you will probably think my solution for fast, easy and, I always hope, stylish dressing is boring, uninspired. But, I beg to differ with you.
I love dressing in what I basically think of as “uniforms” — my uniforms. The idea that I always know what I will wear when I want to dash out the door, or even when I take more time to dress is incredibly liberating.
Summer or winter, almost everything I own is built around navy or black. The outfits I’ve pulled together, above with a black base, below with a navy foundation, demonstrate some of my favorite looks. Everything is in linen. I wear ballerinas every day and usually creole earrings.
You can see I left off the scarves this time, but I always have one in my bag, just in case. I have an embarrassing number of cotton ones that I arranged in the front of my closet last weekend.
I’ve included a selection of bags simply because I think they’re pretty and in theory I would carry any one of them, in practice I’ve been carrying the same mauve-y purple bag for months It goes with everything.
Part of my uniform is the unbroken vertical line as you can see. Generally I don’t like to divide my body at the waist. In the winter for example I’ll wear my navy Equipment silk shirt with my navy gabardine, always flat front, trousers.
Shall I do another day of my uniforms or have you had enough?
A confession: As I’ve mentioned on numerous occasions, I am a tech twit particularly now with the new blog. I have discovered, however, that I can handle the technical side of setting up all the backstage logistics of posting outfits. It makes me feel so smart. . .
