When Marie Kondo’s book came out, I gave a copy to my daughter for Christmas. Now, those who know my daughter, and those who know me would have thought it to be far more logical for me to have kept the book.
Drea is a Virgo. In her house everything has a place and her belongings always dwell within their appointed spaces. Twice annually she purges her closets and drawers. That includes Ella’s closet and drawers as well as a sweep through the kitchen cabinets.
Back to my mess of a life. . . As I mentioned the other day, I discovered that I have a little collection of marinières, but because they were not visible when I opened my t-shirt drawers I hadn’t really thought about them, and, I didn’t recall ever buying a tank version.
I am giving myself until the end of the month to get my life in order, at least the drawers, and in so doing I intend to apply the Marie Kondo vertical display system.
Her overall philosophy, as most of you probably know, is that we should relieve ourselves from the burden of things that do not bring us joy. I think the idea is brilliant.
Let’s put it this way, I’m a work in progress and the progress is slow. (I know we’ve had this conversation before, more than once I’m sure.)
