As I mentioned, I had my annual appointment with Dr. Valerie Gallais last week, and, as I’ve mentioned on several occasions, all of our appointments finish with a beauty consultation. I ask her if the products I’ve been using consistently and conscientiously continue to be on message or does she think I should change something, add or subtract something, up potency.
I always prepare for our visits by taking along the list of my products and a few questions so that we can use her precious time in the most efficacious way.
She still likes everything I’m using, my Eucerin day and night, my prescription Retin A, etc. and I’m happy with the results, but I’m always looking for something new and exciting. (Context for the exciting element because, let’s be honest, there is a limited amount of excitement one can expect from non prescription topicals, but still. . .)
First I’ll tell you about the one that I’m hoping will deliver serious improvement for what I consider my biggest problem above the neck (the neck is a whole ‘nother story), which is dark circles and slight puffiness beneath my eyes. I’ve tried all sorts of cover-up products, none of which has given me the camouflage I desire so I thought perhaps we could address the source.
We cannot really address the source unless we’re ready for some heavy-duty intervention. “I’m not there yet,” as the French would say, and I doubt I ever will be because that would involve anaesthesia.
“I’ve really liked the results I’ve seen with Dèpiwhite,” Dr. Gallais told me. “Use the gel morning and night and be patient. I think you’ll see appreciable improvement. It’s not a miracle, but it’s the best topical product I have ever seen.”
I had to order it from Christine, my pharmacist, and it arrived yesterday. I used it last night and when I finished writing this post I applied my daily dose. Then I put the pretty silver tube in the refrigerator to give it a little more punch. Why not?
For the moment, I have nothing to report except to tell you it’s a very pleasant product — a clear gel, easy to apply, cool on the face.
I’ll keep you au courant. I’m hoping to see some improvement in a month.
That’s not a lot to ask is it?
