Tomorrow will be the last day of party pictures. This has been fun because it shows disparate dressing decisions. The directive on the invitation for the French American Chamber of Commerce Passport to France evening was Elegant Business, which I can only assume is primarily directed at women.
The Union League Club in Chicago does not permit jeans or sneakers so those choices are eliminated. I didn’t see jeans, but I wasn’t looking for them and if a pair did slip in I’m sure they were well concealed with a jacket for the men and something festive on top for the women to draw attention up, up and away from the offensive garment.
I would say there was about a 70/30 percent mix of “elegant business” and cocktail attire. One refreshing detail: About 85 percent of the women were in dresses or skirts. Not being much of a skirt/dress wearer, I absolutely love to see women wearing them. It makes me think I need a rethink. It’s not as if my closet doesn’t offer possibilities.
In the meantime, I’m very pleased that you’re enjoying the series. A demain for the final installment.
