The party’s over.
After spending five days at the French American Chamber of Commerce’s Passport to France soirée in Chicago, through these pictures, you must have felt as if you were there.
I asked Andrea about the percentages of French party-goers and Americans. She said the mix was about 45 to 55 percent, respectively. Many, many Americans who attended speak perfect French. Evenings like this give them the opportunity to practice. Of course all of the French speak perfect English. I participated in and heard conversations where the interlocutors were mixing their languages, sometimes in the same sentence.
Often it’s easy to tell by the different ways they dress and apply makeup, which women are French and which are American. I’m not always right, but in most cases I can guess correctly.
Since I didn’t take these pictures and therefore didn’t confirm my assumptions, I won’t try to play the guessing game here. Next year when I take the pictures I’ll tell you who is French and who is American, or another nationality.
Thank you for coming back and back again to join the party, but most of all thank you for coming back and back again every day. You are the best.
