Often I’m asked: “What is your single, best beauty tip of all time?”
Now, you know me. This is an impossible question. I have my list and my list features a roster of stalwart allies, after trial and often spectacular results, it is simply not reasonable for me to hone down to one product or process.
I mean really. We have a whole body to consider: hair, face (now there is a project), neck, hands, body (lots of territory) and feet to keep it brief.
There is not one product that can cover all that territory. I’m sorry.
However — were you expecting “however”? — I do have an absolute favorite little maneuver that does cover a great deal of territory, is budget friendly, takes only seconds to accomplish, and promises undeniable results. I’ve mentioned it before and it’s in my book, but every time I perform the simply procedure I think about how great it is. Who can resist instant gratification?
It’s the after bath or shower trick that an esthetician taught me. Here’s what you do:
1.) Slip on a pair of exfoliating gloves.
2.) Pour, pump or squeeze your favorite body lotion into your gloved hands and vigorously attack all rough areas of your body. I do my legs, feet and elbows daily. The results are guaranteed.
3.) Wash and dry the gloves — if you don’t remove the lotion you won’t have the friction you need for exfoliating and softening dry skin.
4.) If you have very dry skin, when you’ve finished the lotion exfoliating process you can slather on another layer of lotion. With the initial prep you’ll see it will be absorbed more quickly and efficiently.
I have three pairs of the gloves and just throw them into the washing machine with the rest of the laundry. I’m lazy that way.
At the moment my favorite product is Avenè cold creme body lotion. I tend to be fickle with my body lotions so I may be extolling another one in the future.
