You must be wondering exactly that: Where has she been? What has she been doing?
Well. . . “She” has been traveling around France doing interviews, which I want to tell you about in this space and then I say to myself I must save the stories for the book and then think I’ll share a few anecdotes, and on it goes.
Also, I’ve been chasing after my three-year-old granddaughter for a little over two weeks as my daughter works in Paris.
Ella and I have been swimming, we had lunch in Paris, we went to the market to buy fruits and vegetables, we visited horses and cows a few fields over from our house, we went clothes shopping (note new hat), we bought flowered ballerinas for Ella’s Maman (for the moment she does call her mother, “maman”), we traipsed through a butterfly sanctuary, we planted some herbs in the garden, and we took a day trip to Thoiry, the marvelous zoo about 20 minutes from our home and a little more than an hour from Paris.
I really recommend that if you have the time while visiting that you put the Thoiry Chateau on your “must see” list. (I know I’ve mentioned this before, but truly it’s worth the detour.) Not only will you watch animals out and about in the lovely grounds of the chateau, but also you can go into the chateau and see the decorations, objects, costumes, and letters from Louis XIV, Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour, and marvel in the fact that the 13th generation of the family de la Panouse still live in the chateau.
The boutique inside the chateau is a marvelous place to find reproductions of lovely objects from the original collections. I found charming cache pots and small plates I use regularly.
Finally, even though I haven’t been writing for myself I have been helping a friend work on a book synopsis for Rizzoli. If I have permission to talk about it with you, I’ll tell you why her book will be extraordinary.
Those are my explanations and excuses for being absent and remiss. The next time this happens, there might be a next time, I promise to apologize before, rather than after.
Thank you so very, very much for putting up with me. You are wonderful and I love your comments and deeply appreciate the time you take to read my musings in this space.
Next up, I have a new product to tell you about. . .
